The Royal Museum of Scotland houses international  collections of natural history, geology, science and technology and the decorative arts. Built in the mid l9th century there is much to see of a Scottish nature here within the wide international spectrum of the exhibits. The splendid entrance hall itself is worth a look and now there is an major extension to the museum (on adjoining site) dedicated to the story of Scotland, which opened in 1998.
