In 1947 the Edinburgh International Festival attracted so much attention that its overspill formed the first Fringe - a spontaneous happening in which anyone could take part. If you are not in Edinburgh at Festival time you can still pick up a gift or memento from the goods on sale at the Hub.(many events in the week before 11 August)
